S can stand for Strong, Sturdy, Scintilating and Shining. All four attributes fit in the case of four Bollywood Superstars -Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Deol. These actors have remained rock solid even as criticism of playing similar roles did the rounds at different points of their career. And the proof is the audience support, translating into big box office numbers.
Superstars with S
The Bhaijaan never disappoints as his larger than life presence on the screen remains an instant hit among the masses. Be it his popular dialogues like Itne Chedh Karenge Ki Confuse ho Jaaoge ki Saas Kaise Le aur Paade Kaise or his popular dance numbers, fans just go crazy mimicking those. If there’s one who can guarantee success at the box office, it has to be Salman Khan, having delivered most number of blockbusters raking in 200 and 300 crores of bucks. Cinema lovers just can’t forget his role of Prem in Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and Hum Saath Saath Hain. His latest releases Tiger Zinda Hain and Race 3 have done spectacular business at the box office.
The King of Romance Shahrukh Khan made his presence felt in his very first film, Deewana, released in 1992. Although it was a two-hero film with Rishi Kapoor on the other side, SRK manages to create an impression. From there on, he did the unthinkable of Baazigar and Darr, the negative characters which many heroes denied portraying as they felt the audience won’t accept them. But Shahrukh accepted the challenge by portraying those roles to perfection. Afterward, he dabbled into the romance with Dilwale Dulhanian Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Dil to Pagal Hain, Mohabbatein and much more. He still has a large fan base wanting him to entertain them like the way he’s been doing for non-stop 26 years. The teaser of Zero, an upcoming SRK film, has already spelled a magic among his fans. Wait for the time till it releases in cinema halls near you.
The tall and handsome Sanjay Dutt has done and seen it all if you have to sum up him in one line as shown in his biopic Sanju. If he has delivered successes at the box office, his personal life is nothing short of a roller coaster ride with drug addiction, love affairs, betrayals or even jail for illegal possession of arms in 1993. Even though he was down personally, nothing seemed to have fazed him professionally as he delivered hit with his very first film Rocky in 1981. He didn’t stop there by bringing successes along the years with Naam, Thanedaar, Saajan, and Khalnayak before being arrested in 1993. And, he was no different after being released from Jail with his role of Raghu in 1999 crime drama Vaastav is still fresh on the minds of movie buffs. Watch out for his upcoming Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 and Paanipat.
One simply can’t forget the legendary lines of Dhaai Kilo Ka Haath and Taarikh Par Taarikh, can they? No prizes for guessing, it’s Sunny Deol who uttered these lines and made them historical. Debuted with Betaab in 1982, Sunny Deol has mesmerized fans with cults like Ghayal, Damini, Gadar, to name a few. His loud voice and punches take him to a different league altogether. He was a force to reckon with in the 80s and 90s at the box office. Hope he continues to entertain the audience like the way he’s been doing right throughout his career that has spanned for more than 30 years.
