But at times we make some small and silly mistake and end up creating various health issues. Making these small mistakes can easily spoil your efforts and end up in making you flab instead of fit. But, we hardly pay attention to our eating habits and other food mistakes we do unknowingly. Let’s take a look at six eating mistakes we all generally do after eating.
Smoking: This is one of the most common, but serious mistakes people do who smoke. It is ranked at first place as most of the people just crave for smoking after having their meal. As per different health studies, smoking a cigarette just after the meal is something equivalent to smoking ten cigarettes in a day. It also increases the risk of lung cancer to many folds. So avoid this habit as much as you can to stay healthy.
Sleeping just after meal: Generally, we tempt to have a quick nap after having our lunch or we want to sleep just after having our dinner. This is one of the most common mistakes people make. If you look for your bed after having your lunch, it may create acid in your body which can lead to discomfort. It is also important that you have your dinner before 9 PM and give your body at least one or two hours to digest the food. This will improve your digestion and strengthen your metabolism.
Eating food after a meal: This is another common mistake we all generally make. We tend to have fruits after eating fruits. Eating fruits is good for your body, but if you consume it in the right manner and time. Eating fruits immediately after your meal can lead to bloating and gas in the stomach. It also slows down the digestion process and creates acid in your body. Therefore, always try to avoid having any fruits just after your meal.
Eating too fast: This is something common in many people. There are many people who do not chew their food properly and eat too fast. This means that the food is being broken badly in the mouth and swallowing it faster instead of chewing it. It makes the digestive system work harder to digest the food and makes your digestive system weak. It may also leads to gastric problems and other digestion related problems.
Drinking water between and after the meals: According to ayurveda and different studies, one should not drink water while eating meals as it affects the digestive system too badly. Try to keep the water intake minimum while having your meal. Moreover, drinking water immediately after your meal is another common wrong practice that one should avoid.
Taking shower: One should always remember that the digestion process requires a lot of energy and proper blood circulation in our body. Taking shower just after the meal may hamper this process and slow down digestion as it reduces the blood flow and body temperature. Therefore, always take shower at least 45 minutes after your meal.
