Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan does not need any kind of introduction as his name himself is more than enough. He is ruling the Bollywood from last five decades. He has played many roles in Bollywood from angry young man of Deewar to the best friend in Sholey, and the best comic role in Chupke Chupke, loving father in Mohabbatein and many more films. He aged gracefully and playing different roles in different movies, which not only suits his personality and age but also helped him to be versatile at the same time. When he was born, his father wanted to name him “Inquilab” which means “Revolution”, but later he named him Amitabh that means “Brilliance unlimited”.
In his young days, Amitabh Bachchan wanted to become an engineer and had even thought about to join the Indian Air Force.
He also tried his luck in All India Radio and given audition for the anchor’s position. But his baritone voice was rejected by All India Radio at the time, but today his voice is loved by all and has a special place in Indian cinema and advertising industry as well.
He also struggled a lot in Bollywood before getting the foothold. During his initial days, he had spent a few nights on the bench at Marine Drive, Mumbai.
He has received the second highest civilian award “Padma Vibhushan” for his special contribution to Indian cinema by the Government of India. This award is given for the exceptional and distinguished services offered by any civilian.
He is the first prominent personality from Asia to have a wax model displayed at Madame Tussaud’s museum in London in June 2000.
While shooting for the movie “Khuda Gawah” opposite Sridevi, the, then President of Afghanistan provided Amitabh Bachchan special security with his country’s air force for his protection. “Khuda Gawah” however did not perform well at Indian box office, but it is one of the most watched Indian films in the history of Afghanistan till now.
He is blessed with a very sharp memory. He never forgets the birthdays or special occasions of his loved one and always ensure to wish them on time each year.
He has worked with almost all top actresses of his time, but he admires Waheeda Rahman most and considers her the most beautiful actress of Bollywood.
Before getting married to Jaya Bhaduri, the first time met her at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. After that, he met her on the set of movie Guddi.
